Hello

Sorry for writing my topic in English, but i'm from the Netherlands and cannot write so good in German.

Does some one have experience with the Albizia coreana (Korean mimosa). It must to totally frost hardy and blooms with yellow flowers. I'm looking a while for seeds but till now without succes.

I read many times on the internet that coreana is a synoniem for Kalkora, but i think thats a mispelled name. Because the kalkora is from India and the coreana from Korea.

Here are 2 links with beautiful photo's of Albizia coreana

  • Hello Maurits,

    up to date i have not known about the albizia coreana. I have seen the pics at the link in your post, i must say, the a.coreana isn`t so beautiful as the albizia julibrissin ombrella, but nice too.

    I have found a resource of seeds in the net;

    https://shop.strato.de/epages/186761.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/186761/Products/"18 E"

    Please give us information when you plant a a. coreana out at your home in the netherlands, when it survive a few winters, it could be interesting her for members who live in similar climated mild areas in germany.

    Here is a picture of my dad`s albizia julibrissin ombrella rosea.

    Hi Andres,

    Nice photo, i have also a ombrella in my garden. It ins't very heigh maybe 2.5 meter.

    Unfortunately your seedsupplier doesnt have the coreana seeds. I hope to find a seedsupplier in Korea, i hope they sell it somewhere (maybe in a bonsai shop).

    The Coreana grows in its native habiat only on one mountain. Every winter it wil get temperatures till -25c. So the winters in Germany or the Netherland will be no problem. I had send a request for seed to the JCR Aboretum in the US, but the tree is out of their collection.

    I will let you know when i know more about it.

    Regards,

    Maurits
